Seachem Reef Buffer raises the pH of a reef aquarium to 8.3, without the risk of accidentally raising pH to a dangerous level. It will also raise alkalinity, allowing for greater stability in a reef system where the bioload is significantly greater than in a fish-only aquarium.

Reef Buffer will raise pH and carbonate alkalinity. However, it is intended primarily to maintain a steady pH of 8.3 when pH maintenance is difficult. If pH maintenance is not an issue, Seachem Reef Builder or Reef Carbonate should be your first choice to supplement carbonate alkalinity.

Reef Buffer has a slightly higher pK than Seachem Marine Buffer. pK of a buffering agent is equivalent to the pH around which the buffer is most effective; Reef Buffers higher pK (8.6) provides greater stability in a reef system, where the bioload is greater than a fish-only system. The higher pK compensates for the organic acids produced by reef inhabitants, holding pH steady at 8.3.

Directions: Check pH and alkalinity before use. Use 5 g (1 level teaspoon) for every 150 L (40 US gallons) to raise pH by about 0.1 pH units (this will also raise alkalinity by about 0.5 meq/L). For precise dosing, use the Seachem Digital Spoon Scale. Dissolve in at least 250 ml (one cup) of freshwater, then add to the tank. The pH of natural sea water is 8.25–8.30. In a well established reef system, pH adjustment may be necessary biweekly to semiweekly. Dosing requirements will vary, but do not exceed the recommended dose without checking your pH and alkalinity (alkalinity should not exceed 6 meq/L).

If an alkalinity of 6 meq/L has been reached and a pH of at least 8.20 has not been attained or substantial cloudiness that does not clear within 15 minutes is encountered, then the system is not ionically balanced. To restore ionic balance perform a water change or adjust the magnesium and calcium levels to approximately 3:1 Mg:Ca.

DO NOT OVERDOSE: Excess alkalinity may enhance the loss of calcium, magnesium, and strontium. Do not directly mix with any calcium, magnesium, or strontium supplement. Best if calcium and carbonate additives are added on alternate days or at least 30 minutes apart.

Seachem Reef Carbonate helps raise carbonate alkalinity for reef aquariums. Seachem Flourite is an all natural porous clay gravel substrate, specially broken and mineral-enriched to enhance live aquarium plant growth. It requires no gravel modifiers and never needs to be replaced, remaining effective for the life of the aquarium.

Though its appearance is best suited for planted aquariums, Flourite may be used in any aquarium. Seachem Flourish Potassium provides concentrated potassium to support vigorous growth in aquariums with natural, living plants. This safe, effective supplement helps you avoid potassium depletion, yellowing leaves, and limited plant growth.

Flourish Potassium contains 50,000 mg/L of potassium - one of the highest concentrations available. Water with low mineral content or systems with rapidly growing live plants can quickly deplete available potassium, causing potassium to become the limiting factor for further growth. Use Flourish Potassium to prevent potassium depletion (signs of which include yellowing in older leaves) and maintain the highest level of growth.

Potassium is most easily obtained from potassium nitrate and potassium phosphate, both of which add either nitrogen or phosphorus to the water and make it more difficult to maintain a specific NPK ratio. Flourish Potassium contains 50,000 mg/L of potassium - one of the highest concentrations available. Water with low mineral content or systems with rapidly growing live plants can quickly deplete available potassium, causing potassium to become the limiting factor for further growth. Equilibrium is specifically designed to establish the ideal mineral content for the planted aquarium. Equilibrium contains no sodium or chloride (which can be detrimental to a planted aquarium at elevated levels). Equilibrium is ideally suited for use with RO (reverse osmosis) or DI (deionized) water or any mineral deficient water. Equilibrium raises the essential mineral/electrolyte content (General Hardness) of the water to balance with and promote stability of the carbonate hardness. INSTRUCTIONS: To raise mineral content/general hardness (GH) by 1 meq/L (3 dH), add 16 g (1 tablespoon) for every 80 L (20 US gallons) when setting up an aquarium or when making water changes (add to new water). For optimum solubility, we recommend mixing with 1 L (1 qt.) of water (the resulting mixture will have a white opaque appearance). When this mixture is added to the aquarium it will impart a slight haze that should clear within 15-30 minutes. HINTS: Do not use Equilibrium when replacing evaporated water. This dose is based on DI or RO water; for other water, measure hardness (GH) first, then add according to need. For precise dosing, use the Seachem Digital Spoon Scale. Plant preferences vary, but a general guide is about 1-2 meq/L (3-6 dH) or match the existing or target carbonate hardness (KH), which, ideally, is also about 1-2 meq/L (3-6 dKH).
